The Pisco Routes in Peru

Pisco is undoubtedly the flagship drink of Peru. It is made from selected grapes, called “Pisquera grapes”, which are grown in certain regions such as Ica, Arequipa, Moquegua and Tacna.

“El Catador” Artisan Winery: This winery is the most visited by national and foreign tourists. It is located in the Tres Esquinas farmhouse in the Subtanjalla district. In it you can take a guided tour and taste their products at no cost.

In addition, “El Catador” has won various national awards for its original products, such as the semi-prepared Pisco Sour and La Fina Crema de Pisco.


Lazo Artisan-Museum Winery:

This winery is another of the most visited by tourists. It is located in the hamlet of Camino de Reyes. In addition to having an authentic Spanish winery from the 16th and 17th centuries and having excellent wine products; This winery has a rustic museum as an additional attraction. Certainly, all visitors are amazed by the incredible collections of mummified trophy heads, ceramics, goldsmith work, remains of cloaks from Pre-Hispanic cultures, paintings and stuffed animals, among other collection items.


Bodega Vitivinicola Industrial Tacama or Caravedo:

This winery is one of the most important in the country. It was built during the 16th century and to date it preserves its colonial architecture.

It is located in the oldest Hacienda Houses in the Ica Valley, a fertile oasis surrounded by deserts 300 kms. from Lima and 400 meters above sea level. Excellent quality wines and piscos are produced here. In addition, it has a 180-hectare vineyard, which you can visit on a guided tour.

“The Arequipeño Pisco Route” is a new tourist attraction. On this new route, visitors can visit different wineries located throughout the region and can also visit the vineyards, as well as enjoy the natural landscape of the area.

Vítor Valley:

Vítor Valley is the main Pisco production valley in Arequipa. The area is dominated by artisan wineries such as “La Hacienda del Abuelo”, which is the gateway to Vítor.


Paz Soldán Winery:

This winery was founded in 1914 by Prudencio Paz Soldán. It is currently one of the most important producers of Piscos Italia and Quebranta in the country.


Don Maurilio Winery:

This winery has different areas, where each producer plants and produces different types of grapes. For the preparation of pisco, distillation begins in April, although some pisco producers continue producing until May. Visitors can witness this production on a guided tour.


It should be noted that unlike other cities, in Arequipa jugs are not used but rather jars for resting the Pisco.
