On day 1, pick up from Arequipa in the morning and guided Colca bus tour to Chivay. Accommodation in Chivay or Yanque town and ending the trip in Puno, on day 2.
The Colca Canyon in southern Peru’s Arequipa region is an area of astounding scenic beauty, and one of Peru’s top tourist destinations. It is best known as one of the world’s deepest canyons, reaching a depth of 4,160 meters, whose depth can most easily be appreciated from the Cruz del Condor, a viewpoint where Andean Condors can be seen most days throughout the year.
Overnight in the best hotels in the Colca Canyon: Killawasi Lodge, Pozo del Cielo, Casa Andina standard Colca, Colca Lodge Tour, Colca Inn, Kollawas Home Inn, etc.
Day 1: Arequipa - Pampa Cañahuas - Patapampa - Chivay
The adventure starts at 7:30AM, the tour guide will pick you up from the hotel in Arequipa. We will board the tour bus and leave the city to the Colca Valley.
The first place where we will stop is in Pampa Cañaguas, where we willwatch the beautiful andean vicuñas, alpacas and llamas.
Afterwards, we will stop in Patapampa, a natural viewpoint located at 4900 MASL, from where we can watch the mountain range.
Later on, we will drive downhill to the main town of the Colca Canyon: Chivay (3600 MASL).
Arrive to Chivay town around 1PM and buffet lunch.
Afterwards, we bring you to the selected hotel and then we will visit the hot springs La Calera. Here you can enjoy the warm natural waters in a nice outdoor. After sunset, we return to the hotel and have dinner.
Day 2: Chivay - Cruz del Condor - Puno
We will have breakfast very early in the morning and then we will leave to the famous “Cruz del Condor”. Arriving there, we have plenty of time to enjoy the great view of the deep canyon and the majestic Condor in its natural habitat.
After some time, the guide will take you for a short hike near the Canyon (approx. 1 hour).
On the way back to Chivay we’re going to visit the traditional village of Pinchollo and the “Antahuilque and Wayrapunko viewpoint”, where we will watch the andean terraces constructed by the Collaguas, an ancient culture before the Inca’s time.
We will also make a small stop at the look-out point of “Choquetico” with its hanging tombs. Then, we continue the bus trip to the small town of Maca.
We will stop for Lunch in Chivay before taking the way to Puno. Along the way we will stop in Lagunillas for watching birds. Arrive and transfer to the hotel at 7:30PM.
