The Pallarcocha Lagoon is a high mountain lake at an altitude of 4,740m (15,550ft) above sea level located in the Arequipa Region, Condesuyos Province, Andaray District, Peru.
The road to the lake, also known as Laguna de Pallarcocha, is gravel. It’s called the AR-107. 4×4 vehicles with free height only. Do not hike this trail in severe weather conditions. The climb is just terrible, with a conspicuous lack of oxygen testing organisms and a high degree of incline. Most people feel altitude sickness at around 2,500-2,800 meters.
Near the pass, oxygen is scarce. On this path, you are firmly at altitudes above 5,000m. For an unacclimatized person, this can be fatal. Starting from the AR-106 crossroads, the ascent has a length of 60.6 km.
