Arequipa is a tourist destination full of natural treasures. The gifts offered by its countryside added to the majesty of its beaches make this destination an obligatory stop before a possible tour of South America.

The Arequipa provinces of Caravelí, Camaná and Islay have access to the sea, with countless beaches that seem to come out of a postcard. They are all a must if our adventure is sailing, fishing or surfing.

Next, we present the best beaches that the Arequipa coast has.

Caleta de Catarindo (Islay)

A pool of crystal clear water that is difficult to access: to get to it, you must take several taxis, private transport or buses from the city, with a journey of approximately 3 and a half hours. However, the tour worth it: Catarindo is sea, sand and excellent restaurants that overlook the beach. There you can taste a delicious Tiradito while you watch the immensity of the ocean.

Playa Jihuay (Caravelí)

The nearby hills and its swaying sea make this beach a dream paradise for lovers of water sports. Even its low attendance makes it the ideal place to breathe, meditate and, above all, rest. Not to mention the gastronomy offered by the restaurants near this spa. A fresh ceviche can be the first option.

Caleta de Quilca (Camana)

In the past, this beach was well-known for being a port for agricultural and livestock shipments. The commercial activities diminished to leave at the disposal of the traveler a bluish sea embraced by rocky trails. Its great turnout and location make it the ideal destination for family vacations.

Playa Tanaka (Caravelí)

Tanaka is a natural pool where you can bathe surrounded by colorful fish, as if you were in an aquarium. With no gates, signage or modern buildings, Tanaka looks like a forgotten oasis. The area is very safe: the local people are very friendly and helpful. Seeing its pools of crystal clear water, surrounded by rocks, the visitor is shocked and incredulous at such beauty.

Playa Mejia (Islay)

It is a fairly busy beach, but clean and safe. It has a beautiful town at the foot of its calm waters, where tourists can find all kinds of services. Among them, hotels and restaurants, as well as recreational activities for the little ones. Mejía is another ideal destination to enjoy with the family.

Caleta San Jose (Camana)

Awarded three times as the Best Natural Beach by the Eco Playas Peru organization, this dream place is characterized by its calm waters and spectacular sunsets. A few minutes from the coast is Hornillos Island, where a great variety of marine fauna is concentrated.

Playa La Punta (Islay)

Very crowded by the public, it is one of the cleanest and most orderly beaches in all of Arequipa. That is why it is the favorite of adults and children. In addition, its offer of services is much higher than that of other resorts in terms of hotels, restaurants and recreation centers.
