Imata is situated on the old road to Juliaca city. On the old road to Puno, at this place we can find Imata Forest Stone where we will find strange stones which seems to be a mysterious petrified forest with animals, faces, monsters, Andean birds, etc.
Aguada Blanca and Salinas National Reserve which contains majestic volcanoes, including Misti, Chachani, Pichupichu and Ubinas. Among the mountains, nature has crafted the high Andean plains, inhabited by vicuñas, alpacas, llamas and guanacos. The reserve also contains beautiful lagoons and wetlands – the habitat of birds including flamingos and crested ducks.
Pillones Waterfall Tour and Imata Hike Itinerary:
After two hours travelling on the road Arequipa to Puno, we will take an old road for going to Pillones Waterfall. We will start hiking along Sumbay River, walking up for around one hour until arrive to Pillones waterfall.
At Pillones watferfall you can enjoy the beautiful nature and relaxing with the sound of the water falling down. We will have time to enjoy some snacks, before returning.
We return along the same way, this time we will climb a little for getting to the transport; our next stop on route on Pillones Waterfall and Imata Hike tour will be the Stone Forest of Imata.
In this fantastic place, we will hike surrounded by rock formations with enigmatic figures, which have shapes of animals, people, and magical beings.
You will have the sensation of walking in a place out of this world, we hike through the forest of stones for two hours approximately.
Return to Arequipa, approximately at 6:30 pm.
