Cotahuasi Canyon is the deepest canyon in the world and It's located at 8 hours by private transport from Arequipa, Peru.

In Cotahuasi, the services are limited and  basic as this is not a tourist destination like the Colca Canyon: restaurants and hotels are rustic.

There are not tourist restaurants, we found local meals and just local people. Food is basic; you eat the same options of a local person in cotahuasi village.

The hotels-hostels do not offer heating, ventilation, sometimes no hot water.

Day 1: Arequipa - Toro Muerto - Chuquibamba - Cotahuasi
Pick up from the hotel in Arequipa at 6:30AM and departure to Cotahuasi. Along the way to Cotahuasi we will stop in Toro Muerto Petroglyphs.

It is estimated that there are about 5 thousand rocks, known as volcanic tuffs, with engravings of zoomorphic, anthropomorphic and geometric figures, possibly carved between the years 500 AD. C. and 1300 d. C. using striking, scratching, rubbing, chipping, and percussion etching techniques.
Then we will arrive to Chuquibamba where we will stop for using the toilettes and having lunch.

Afterwards we will arrive to the Pallarcocha Lagoon, located at 4740 MASL. From where we can watch the Solimana and Coropuna mountains.
Then we will arrive to the Allahuay viewpoint from wher we can watch the Cotahuasi Valley. If we are lucky, we could watch some condors.
Finally we will arrive to Cotahuasi at 6PM, dinner and drop off to the hotel.

Day 2: Cotahuasi - Sipia Waterfall
Breakfast and then we leave the Cotahuasi hotel for beginning the nice downhill trekking for about three hours along the Cotahuasi River.

Today the trekking includes a nice scenery of huge walls of the canyon, crossing the Cotahuasi River and accompanied by relaxing lanscape.
Finally arrive to the highest part of the Sipia waterfall. The view of the canyon offer a variety of contrasting colors.

Return to Cotahuasi town for having lunch and in the afternoon we will visit The Chaquicocha lagoon from where we can watch the flora and fauna of this zone.

Then return to Cotahuasi, diner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Cotahuasi - Pampamarca - Huito Stone Forest  - Uskune

Breakfast and then we will leave by car to Pampamarca town, located at one hour by car from Cotahuasi, at this place we will visit Huit Forest Stone, located at 2 hours hiking from Pampamarca town. Then we will visit the Uskune waterfalls and the pre- Inca andean terraces, we will do a short hike along this place.

Lunch in Pampamarca, return to Cotahuasi. Lunch in Pampamarca and return to Cotahuasi. In the afternoon visit to Lucha hot springs, retunr to Cotahuasi and dinner.

Day 4: Cotahuasi - Arequipa
Today at breakfast will at 7AM and then aboard the private transport and drive back to Arequipa.
The journey includes some stops along the way for pictures as the Mirador de Cotahuasi to watch the flight of the Andean Condor's (1hr) and of course other stops to get more views of high mountains and lunch in Aplao – Around 4PM you will arrive to your hotel in Arequipa and end of service.
